ATAG Special Meeting on the February 6, 2023 Kahramanmaraş Earthquakes

3 Ocak 2024 • Kategori: Haberler/Duyurular

The February 6, 2023 Kahramanmaraş Earthquakes (Mw 7.8 Pazarcık and Mw 7.6 Ekinözü) and their aftershocks caused a loss of more than 50,000 lives and a huge economic burden of over a USD 100 billion in Türkiye. Since day one, geoscientists around the world are researching and documenting the characteristics of these earthquakes with multi-disciplinary approaches.

On the first anniversary of the Kahramanmaraş Earthquakes, we, as the Active Tectonics Research Group of Türkiye, are organizing an online meeting to learn and discuss more about these multi-disciplinary studies. The meeting, which will take place on February 6-7, 2024 (Tuesday and Wednesday), is open to all active tectonics related studies that focus on the 2023 earthquakes and the tectonics of Anatolia with an emphasis on the East Anatolian, Dead Sea and the newly activated Çardak-Elbistan fault zones.
